Welcome to the CAPCA website

In 2009, the CAPCA Board finalized its strategic plan, 2009-2014 [PDF]. The plan identifies the strategic priorities that will allow the organization to deliver on expectations identified by internal and external stakeholders.

The below four CAPCA strategic priorities and their respective goals build on the strengths that a national coordinating body brings to operational issues facing all cancer agencies:

Alignment and role clarity – position CAPCA as the 'principal broker' between CPACC and its members on matters of quality of cancer care and services.
Safe care - promote safe and accessible care through sharing information and promoting best practices.
Enhanced cancer care across the continuum - enhance community cancer care
Access to Cancer Drugs - Improve and harmonize access to evidence-based drug treatment and mitigate the cost of cancer drugs across Provinces/ Territories.

As CAPCA operationalizes its plan, this website will be updated with more information regarding its activities.

CAPCA is an inter-provincial organization representing provincial/territorial cancer agencies and programs that are responsible for reducing the burden of cancer on Canadians. CAPCA facilitates and supports provincial/territorial cancer agencies and programs through effective leadership, collaboration, communication and advocacy for cancer control. An underlying principle of CAPCA is the acknowledgment that health care is a provincial responsibility. The strategic priorities of CAPCA therefore are intended to support the role of provincial cancer agencies or their equivalent in various provinces. They are not intended to be directive nor is there any indication that they would necessarily be accepted by all.
